pakua kung fu seminars
SEMINAR 1 - Enter the Phoenix
Friday October 11th, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm
Saturday October 12th 2019 from 2pm to 5pm
Pa-Kua has traditionally been taught as an internal finishing art. Unlike the external or "hard" martial arts are generally characterized as arts that focus on improving muscle, cardiovascular fitness, and overall physical strength. These arts generate powerful movements from tense muscles, and focus on fast, explosive, and agile movements.
Pa-Kua Kung Fu focuses more on the Internal or "soft" or relaxed power, awareness of the spirit, mind, breath, and the use of relaxed leverage. These arts strive to fight while calm and relaxed, with trained deep slower breathing, and focus on center and balance even when moving quickly or in actual combat. The development of Internal martial arts requires, slow movements that develop a different kind of strength than fast training and a lot of body awareness, then the gradual increase of speed until even great speed in achieved in fluid movements that carry their momentum from one move to the next.
In order to study the internal we start externally as if going through the evolution of a human being (baby, toddler, young child, older child, teen, adult etc). The Evolution of techniques uses the same manner of development from White sash to Black sash in order to evolve and develop cognitive muscle memory.
